📄 Job Description
- **Strategic Metric Ownership:** Own the roadmap for Gauntlet’s core product metrics and reporting, defining clear goals, success criteria, and SLAs for freshness, coverage, and quality.
- **Single Source of Truth:** Build and maintain a definitive source for internal metrics, encompassing flows, revenue, TVL, growth attribution, and detailed financial reporting per vault and platform feature.
- **Data Pipeline Partnership:** Collaborate closely with Data Engineering to scope instrumentation, tracking plans, schemas, and ETL processes, providing precise product requirements for robust data pipelines and dashboards.
- **Cross-Functional Enablement:** Support critical workflows across Finance, Growth, and Engineering, ensuring seamless reconciliation of product telemetry with booked revenue and cash movements.
- **Executive Reporting:** Deliver insightful, executive-ready dashboards and narratives that directly inform prioritization and accountability across various product lines.
- **External Transparency:** Champion external transparency standards, ensuring Gauntlet App metrics align with third-party aggregators, with a strong focus on DefiLlama parity and consistent public definitions.
- **Metrics Governance:** Publish and govern a comprehensive company-wide metrics catalog, including definitions, edge cases, backfills, and change logs.
- **Quality Assurance:** Establish rigorous data QA gates, including anomaly detection, backtesting, schema validation, and rollback plans for any metrics changes.
- **Adoption & Trust:** Drive widespread adoption by training stakeholders, documenting self-serve workflows, and actively collecting feedback to continuously improve usability and trust in our data.
- **Community Engagement:** Represent our metrics in customer and community contexts, coordinating with Communications and Business Development on public reporting and disclosures.
📌 Requirements
- **Experience:** 3+ years in Product Management or Data Product roles, demonstrating end-to-end ownership of metrics and reporting within fintech, crypto, or other analytics-heavy product environments.
- **Technical Foundation:** An engineering degree or equivalent practical engineering experience.
- **Analytical Prowess:** Strong analytical toolkit, with required SQL proficiency and comfort using Python for exploratory analysis and quality assurance.
- **Data Modeling:** Proven track record building instrumentation and data models alongside product teams, including familiarity with event design, schema versioning, and ETL change management.
- **Communication:** Exceptional clarity in writing and storytelling, with the ability to transform complex data into crisp decisions and well-defined roadmaps.
Bonus Points:
- Hands-on experience with DefiLlama or other crypto aggregators, subgraphs, and on-chain indexing.
- Prior ownership and management of a company-wide metrics catalog.
- Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) and data stack tools such as Hex, Mode, Looker, BigQuery, dbt, or Airflow.
- A deep understanding of common measurement pitfalls, including attribution bias, survivorship bias, and schema drift on EVM logs.
- Experience partnering directly with Finance teams on revenue reporting, reconciliation, and monthly close processes.
- Strong domain fluency in DeFi metrics, on-chain data, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for vaults or protocols.
