As a Lead Backend Rust Engineer at Travoom, you’ll design and build high-performance backend services and scalable APIs that power the next generation of travel experiences. You’ll be part of a small but mighty engineering team focused on creating fast, reliable, and efficient systems that support millions of travelers worldwide.
  • Build backend services using Rust for optimal speed and safety.
  • Design and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Develop and manage PostgreSQL databases and schemas.
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale systems using AWS cloud services.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle — from design to deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable backend solutions.
  • Optionally, work on ETL/ELT data pipelines and large-scale video storage projects.

📌 Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong production-level experience with Rust (beyond personal projects).
  • Deep understanding of REST and GraphQL with clear trade-off reasoning.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum workflows and multiple testing methodologies.
  • Proven ability to design scalable backend architectures including authentication, APIs, microservices, and caching systems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Rust + GraphQL experience.
  • ETL/ELT pipeline development experience.
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Actix, Axum, Tokio, or Rocket.
  • Knowledge of WebAssembly, gRPC, or blockchain integration.
  • Experience working in high-growth startups or early-stage environments.
